Beds & Herts Area is organising a trip to Glorious Glyndebourne in October, to see Rossini's ever popular "The Barber of Seville" followed  by a two course dinner at the Opera House.

The coach will pick you up at designated locations on Saturday 24th October and you will be home again on Monday 26th October. Over the three days visits will include Charleston House, made famous by the Bloomsbury Group, Towner Art Gallery, Brighton's Royal Pavilion and Batemans, home to Rudyard Kipling.

The Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday 9th September 2026 at 10.00am promptly in the Civic Centre, Berkhamsted. We would ask members arriving after 10.00am to wait until the AGM has concluded before entering the Lecture Hall.

Some 50 members enjoyed a fully packed day in Northampton in early June, visiting the exceptional Shoe Museum, 78 Derngate, a house designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Delapre Abbey (pictured) where we enjoyed lunch in the private dining room.before a guided tour of the house.

An Extraordinary General Meeting will be held on Wednesday 11th February at the Civic Centre, Berkhamsted to endorse Jenny Brannock Jones as the new Chairman of Tring Park Arts Society

This will take place at 10.15am immediately prior to the lecture, The Roots of Jazz – Emma Johnson

This year we gave Tring Music Partnership a small grant which went towards supporting Phoenix Big Band, a jazz group made up of students from local schools together with some adult players.  Phoenix Big Band will be performing at the Tring Christmas festival on Saturday 29th November.  They will be on the Zebra Radley Stage in Church Square at 7.15 pm.

Trish Dowden of Tring Music Partnership has thanked The Arts Society Tring Park for their sponsorship, saying “with less  opportunity in school it is so important to encourage young people to play music.  We aim to have at least a 50 per cent ratio of students to adults in the band.  This year we have 13 students who have all reached Music Grade 5 or higher out of the 20 member band which is very encouraging.”
Tring Christmas Festival runs from 3.30 pm – 8.30 pm on 29th November with lots of music, dancing and shopping opportunities as well as a chance to sip mulled wine and taste some local delicacies.

Our 2026 programme has now been finalised and the lectures will take us across Europe and into Asia.

The year will start with the history of the City London as told through its stained glass.  There will be two lectures on a musical theme as well as a look behind the scenes in curating the museum, Norse mythology and an adventure in central Asian nomadic textiles. 

The full programme will be available in October.  

The Arts Society Tring Park Celebrates 30th Anniversary 

In August the Arts Society Tring Park celebrated its 30th anniversary with a lunch for 90 members.  Five founder members were able to attend.  The Society’s president and long time resident of Tring, antiques expert, John Bly, made a welcoming address in which he recalled the very early days when NADFAS (the former name of the Arts Society) was formed.  This was followed by local auctioneer, Stephen Hearn giving an amusing account of the beginnings of Tring Market Auctions and the changes in taste over the recent decades.  After the lunch Stephen and John went round the tables discussing the small items that members had brought along.
